Rain stopped play and changed plans

Last month it was all about Blenheim, went to receive my long service award and had a lovely lunch on the Thursday with my sister in law Tara had a look round the tradestands eyeing up the bargains (may have even bought a pair of shoes before 10am). Then it was back on the Friday with my friend Jennie, result scored a free cup of coffee on the Equine America stand and invited back for prosecco in the afternoon love a freebie. Also bumped into loads of Wobbleberry friends and watched Becki Holmes compete in the ROR dressage so proud of how far this lady has come keep an eye out we are going to be hearing a lot more from her (Wobbleberry to One Star). Back again on the Sunday to fence judge what a shame the weather changed and it rained but still was great to be out Cakeberry got a bit star struck over Blenheim weekend as you can see from the photos.

Then the weather intervened with plans was going to have a lesson last week and it chucked it down no fun riding in the rain if you have a choice and an understanding instructor, so that one was rearranged. The darn weather got in the way with plans for last Saturday as well with the cancellation of the LandS ODE at Offchurch Bury, but the LandS team, Equi-Excel and Dallas Burston Polo Club worked together to arrange Arena Eventing instead. So no standing around in a field but in the judges box instead, was lovely to see competitors having fun even when the first of the pairs class started to jump and let’s just say it was a very hectic, furious round and certainly made us pay attention.

A lesson this week on Cookie it was a shorter one than normal and the rain held off but sometimes it’s worth concentrating on quality over time spent, so much better at transitions this week perhaps taking a break and going out for hacks instead worked.

So as the eventing season draws to a close we have Arena Eventing to look forward to and one of my favourite days out Your Horse Live in November where the famous Horse and Hound Blogger ‘Hovis’ and his entourage will be attending and a big thank you to BETA for the free tickets.

Thinking about time spent with horses should be about enjoying the time and not just schooling, jumping etc so have fun, enjoy and love the time spent with your horse.
