After a successful outing at Princethorpe unaffiliated 2DE I entered Ascott under Wychwood. After a shakey star( getting lost on your own down narrow Cotswolds lanes in an old 7.5T lorry is not good for your nerves) I was met at the event by 7 members of my lovely riding club CROWN, Stacey in particular was a star helping me get ready and reminding me of what I might need, and Andrea was official photographer. The dressage was not great , we had too short a warm up and he was very tense. Then he tripped in the halt and stopped outside the arena for a wee! A full bladder can't have helped! The coursewalk with the BE trainer ws very useful for a novice and I'll definitely do it again if , no when , I do another BE! Lucie and Olivia brought CROWNberry who rode the SJ and XC with me on my number, to bring me luck. The Sj course was very colourful and there were lots of refusals . Then it started to pour and Skye could not understand why he had to be out in it!! Not ideal. Despite my worries, he didn't stop though he did look and I had to grr at him but the slippery ground lead to a couple of poles down, unusual for him. But it didn't matter, it meant we could do our favourite part xc, and miraculously the sun came out and we had a lovely round, he was a superstar and left me feeling elated. It's been a real journey, with lots of tears but the support from friends, trainers and my club has meant we got there, from being terrified and falling off after jumping 18 inches to this. Skye and I have become a much better team, and he has given me some fantastic memories, I never thought I'd be competing again, let alone eventing! I was left wanting to do better in memory of Hannah, so this isn't the end of our story just the beginning #rideforhannah
