BE 80(T) Askham Bryan
After a year of heartbreak and limited training we completed our challenge on 7th October 2017 at Askham Bryan. It was an emotional day as I never thought me and my best friend would get to compete - we got a respectful dressage score and were clear showjumping, but it's fair to say our inexperience at cross country made us very slow - this was only our second time round a full cross country course and the first time jumping 80's both in the showjumping and cross country. Still we got round and had a good chat on the way and we weren't overtaken ! I had a very slow run out at the last fence but we turned round and cleared it easily on our second approach. So going forward from Askham Bryan I know we can do loads better - the ongoing plan is to work on our speed and have a bit of fun during the next couple of months. I would honestly encourage everyone not to be scared and have a go at the BE80. The free BE access all areas courses made me realise the eventing world is like a family and where else would you have a trainer on hand to help you during the event. Prior to this challenge I was jumping max 55cm so thank you Hannah and all the other wobbleberries for inspiring me to do this challenge.
