As most of you are aware last year I fractured 2 vertebrae in my lower spine and ended up with an haematoma the size of a football in the middle of my back, all this was from a horse I was trying out. I bought him anyway as it was just one of those freak accidents which happen when you ride.
It has been a very long and slow progress, end of August I was given the all clear to start riding again as long as I didn't over do it, 3 weeks later I went to camp and was so nervous, only did flatwork but when the riding club had there rewards just before Christmas I was awarded the most improved rider at camp, to say I was thrilled was an understatement!
Although I was hacking out with more confidence Ells developed a nappy streak which made me nervous and I felt like I was back to square one, but after a couple of lessons I started to learn how to deal with the issues and now I can mostly overcome them.
The next big step was to jump again and this really did fill me with dread and fear but armed with my new Point two air vest off I went, I was nearly sick and have never shook so much in my life. With the patience of my instructor and the support of two friends off I sent and managed it! Even managed a double and a small course of 7 jumps all at approx. 70/75cm. To make it worse this was the same venue as I had the accident.
Still shaking but so pleased I could cry
