Muddy, wet and shopping
So here we are again, another busy month started off with volunteering at the last Wolf Run of the year a decidedly wet and muddy one. Fitted in a couple of lessons on Cookie each lesson I’m seeing some improvements in my riding (ok we’ll just gloss over not being able to get the right diagonal in one) and the last lesson totally nailing transitions. At the end of the last one I left the ground, yay, after not jumping for a few months concentrating on control etc so alls good

Rain stopped play and changed plans
Last month it was all about Blenheim, went to receive my long service award and had a lovely lunch on the Thursday with my sister in law Tara had a look round the tradestands eyeing up the bargains (may have even bought a pair of shoes before 10am). Then it was back on the Friday with my friend Jennie, result scored a free cup of coffee on the Equine America stand and invited back for prosecco in the afternoon love a freebie. Also bumped into loads of Wobbleberry friends and

Apologies for the radio silence
Firstly I must apologise for lack of posts, it has been quite busy over the summer. Anyway had a lovely day stewarding at Offchurch Bury back in July lots of lovely competitors to chat too. Then was called in to fence judge at Pony Cub Tetrathlon at Offchurch which was an enjoyable day if a tad windy sat on top of the hill, watched some super riding and no doubt some future eventing stars. We went on holiday for a week to Brean in Somerset and took the dogs with us the weathe

Nice to be appreciated
5/6/2019 Sitting in the office thinking what has happened since my last blog, well i volunteered at Stoneleigh Riding Clubs 2 day event on the steeplechase phase setting the riders off and helping with the timing (even got to give one of my favourite ponies a cuddle before they started) saw lots of people i knew which was good. Bought a new car, volunteered at The Wolf Run which was great fun as they had their first under 18's run over a shortened course lots of enthusiastic

Time well spent
It occurred to me this week that time is precious and we should not waste it, whether its time spent in lessons or time just being with horses. So what’s the difference between a half hour lesson and an hour lesson apart from the obvious of course! Sometimes a half hour lesson can be just as rewarding and achieve so much in a short time tonight for example, working on transitions again but this time getting them right and knowing when they were going wrong. So making progress

Timing is everything
Well after spending a busy weekend volunteering with LandS Eventing stewarding the xc warm up both days, it was a tad chilly on the Saturday but weather improved for Sunday. Seeing lots of lovely horses coming past, setting off on course and happily coming back together, so many friends competing and lovely to see people from last season again. Minor niggle to the weekend is why when you say to a competitor you’re next that means you have just 2 minutes before you need to go

Somewhere new
So tonight i was trying a new riding school was teamed up with Tommy (sorry no photo but i’ll get one next time) the instructor is a friend so this lesson was an assessment of how i’m doing. Very different type of horse than i’ve been riding a bit smaller so slightly shorter stride, but didn’t feel too small for me. We practised lots of transitions found that Tommy needs quite a lot of leg to get him moving forward something i may notice in a couple of days! So a useful exerc

Don’t think your instructor can’t hear you!
Hello readers well today was lesson day and ended up being teamed up with Mr Horse again. It all started well (apart from the rain) getting the hang of this sitting trot business less bouncing about so must be sitting deeper in the saddle which means my lower leg must be in a better position. Anyway a couple of canters and a teeny mention by the intsructor when i swore at Mr H on the far side of the arena for trying to tank off ooops!! We came to do a tiny cross pole in trot

My first rosette aged 46!!
. After feeling poop for the last couple of days, it meant I hadn’t ridden for two weeks, and Friday I had a melt down. Saturday morning I woke up and didn’t even know if I was going to ride, but was in my mind to not ride but not say anything until we got there as I knew Naomi was looking forward to it. My OH said ‘Good luck for today and go and make the most of it’ as he left for yet another 12 hour shift, so by the time I got there I was geared up to ride. Initially there

We only went and did it!
We made it! What? I hear you say? Our first clear round! But you never told us you were doing that? Ummmm..... nope. Just in case we didn’t! We decided that we needed to get out more. Harry loves going out and he loves jumping best. We had arranged to do dressage tomorrow, but due to an error we aren’t, however, we decided we would go and do the New Year Showjumping at Topthorn. I would do the 40cm clear round as it was our first time. An early start, well for me at least, an

Where does the time go?
So it’s been a while since my last blog as life has been rather hectic with... well life! So it’s been a while since my last blog as life has been rather hectic with... well life! I started my own business with mixed media www.GingeArts.co.uk and my animal art, in particular Horse and Rider commissions, www.TeresaLewisArt.co.uk, which has taken off well. I also contacted Willberry HQ as I wanted to raise extra funds for them, so I did a piece of special art for Willberry, whi

Back in the saddle
Well after the last blog i finally found time to have another riding lesson on the lovely Gomez. Before i go into details just need to mention about how this challenge is bringing people together, people who wouldn’t normally meet, live in another part of the country all because of the Wobbleberry Challenge. The other weekend a group arranged to meet at Belton Horse Trials most of us travelled a distance to get there but on this occasion the sun put in an appearance (you know

What is this word ‘Fitness’ you speak of?
This week we actually managed to get over for a lesson as I have my car back! Harry loaded straight on and we got there in good time, tacked him up and ready to mount. One foot in the stirrup, Harry moves, the stool moves, and I am doing some sort of high leg kick with one foot in the stirrup whilst hanging on to him so I dont fall on my bum. I free my foot and drop the mane hair I have in my hand and start again! 🙄 Now we are on! Initially I am just walking him round on bo

Bitesize, Sucess and Learning
i signed up to do the Wobbleberry Challenge last year. Up until the point I signed up, the most I had done was weekly lessons and hacking. I’m not entirely sure I knew what I was actually signing up for, however, I figured it would get me to push myself out of my comfort zone and fulfill my ambition of doing a One Day Event. My steed at the time, Bart, was happy with just plodding out hacking and foing to lessons, but always with a bit of a battle to catch and load him, howe

Jules & Edd Update
Its been a long winter and although we are now supposedly in Spring the weather is definitely being very Challenging at the moment. I have been quite quiet for a long time due to not really doing a lot and finding it hard to get motivated. 2017 was an amazing year and we need to get our mojo back to make 2018 even better. With a couple of fantastic Wobbleberry camps in 2017 (run by the very lovely Janice Hawes) under my belt and lots of sessions with great trainers we were ge
